The river expanded from 60 feet wide to over 600 feet wide. In places it rose over 50 feet above it's usual level. The force was devastating.
Roads and houses demolished in the wake of the river.
Homes and businesses destroyed.
Homes were buried in mud and with the roads impassable, the relief effort was hindered.
Cars and trucks were imbedded in the mud.
